My First Retro Sketch! :)

I always love the sketches over on the Retro Sketches Challenge blog but rarely (never) get the time to play along. My mom needed a Get Well card for someone at work and she came over to spend time with Zac so I thought "Yay! I can play along with RS this week!" :) Lol. :) Here is the sketch...
 And here is my interpretation...
All the patterned paper and card stock is Recollections.
PTI products: mat stack #3 die and stamps, half and half die. The flower stamp is Studio G.
The ribbon is from JoAnn's and I had a really hard time tying it...couldn't be because I cut it too short... :)
Hope you like it, I really do! ;) It just sort of came together on it's own...love when that happens!

Thanks for looking. I would love to hear your thoughts so please leave a comment if you wish. :)

Make It Monday #65 PTI

As you know I love any and all things PTI so I decided to play along with this weeks Make It Monday #65. The challenge is to use some of your DP scraps to make a background. Here is my take...

These are just a few of the papers I used from my scrap pile and the EK Success edge puncher I used. (I have wanted this one for awhile and it was on clearance at Hobby Lobby so I jumped on it!)
All of the DP scraps are Recollections and because it is a thinner paper, I had a rough time with the punch. :( so some of the strips may look a little funky. O well.
PTI products: doily die, double ended banner die, Happy Days die and stamp set.
The pink bling is Studio G. It was hard to get a picture of, but there are a couple of layers using pop dots. :)
While I like the way this turned out...I may stick to using card stock in this particular punch. :)

Thanks for looking. I would love to hear your thoughts so please leave a comment if you wish. :)

Happy Birthday CAS-ual Fridays!!!

It's CAS-ual Fridays 1st Birthday! Happy Birthday! So naturally we are creating Birthday Cards! :) Here is mine...

The DP are from The Paper Studio. Card stock is Recollections.
All things PTI :) - Tag Sale #5 die, Limitless Layers Ovals dies, World's Greatest stamp.

Thanks for looking! I would love to hear your thoughts so please leave a comment if you wish. :)

Happy Birthday CAS-ual Fridays! :)

Blessings from Yesterday:

...Zachary has had a fever for the past two days. :( It's only the 2nd time he has had a fever (that in and of itself is a blessing.) So I had to take him to the Doc. The first time he had a fever it was an ear infection that we caught early and this time it is only a viral cold (or upper respiratory infection) and not strep. Thank God. :)

Recital Props :)

For this years recital, the studio I work for is putting on a production of The Wizard of Oz. So along with the main characters and the story, each class has a part. I have 5 classes and 3 solos for some of the main characters. When ordering costumes the picture is always better right? Right. :) So when we got the lollipops for my Lollipop Guild class we were...underwhelmed to say the least. They are plastic which is good, but the original stick was super short AND they kept breaking. So I contemplated a bit and found a solution...

Here is the original. When some of them started to break I noticed that they were hollow inside so I started thinking...
I cut the rest of the non-broken ones off with a hack saw my sweet hubby let me borrow...
Then I took some 12in dowels that I had left over from the streamers I made for another class. 12in was too long so I marked them at 9in...
 ...and hacked them off. :)
I painted them with some cheap yellow paint just so they would match a bit better.
Then for added support I used some hot glue to keep the dowel in. (I also had to whittled the tops off a bit so they would fit nice and snug into the top of the lollipops.)
I added some colorful ribbon and....
 WAA LAA! :)

I also have the Witch's solo and we ordered a broom to go with her costume in true witch fashion, but when we got it, it looked nothing like the picture! I know things don't always look the way the picture does, but this was ridiculous! It was super short and the staff part was covered in yucky green fabric and the bottom didn't allow for any movement what-so-ever. It was so awful I forgot to take a pic of it before I ripped it apart! :) I had a bamboo stick left over from last year when I made my class medicine sticks (we did music around the world and my jazz class was representing Brazilian rainforests:) So I used that and bought some raffia.
The raffia was really long so I took several strands and folded them in half and knotted them so I would have something to glue onto the bamboo stick.
Then I got out my trusty glue gun and got to work. :)
My finger tips were fried crispy by the end, but I am so much happier with this broom! The black raffia is from the original broom and makes up the outer layer.
It was hard to get a picture of but I tied a black and green piece of ribbon around the top of the raffia for added security. (Even though there is a crap ton of hot glue on there!)
This piece of lace was on the bottom of the original broom but it wouldn't fit around the new larger one, and the top looked a bit "naked" so I glued it up at the top.

I'm pretty happy with my "new" props!

I'm thinking of linking this up over on the Pink Cricut blog for the Tuesday link up party...think I will! :)

Similar but Different :)

I wanted to play over at the Play Date Cafe so when I took a look at the challenge I noticed it was similar but different from the CR84FN challenge. I just LOVE these colors together though so I was excited! :) Here is the color pallet...
 ...and my take...
All the DP and card stock are Recollections. The pink is from the Floral Gardens stack and the blue is from the All Seasons stack.
PTI dies and stamps used: doily, heart border, Happy Days, and HD coordinating stamps.

I tried to take a sideways picture so you could see the subtly different layers. :)
Hope you like it! I would love to hear your thoughts so please leave a comment if you wish. :)

*Just realized this is my 100th post! Woo Hoo!
Blessing from yesterday: Got all my Wizard of Oz recital props done! (Hopefully;)

CR84FN

I haven't played along with the CR84FN challenge in a while and I really like that challenge, so I scraped some time together and made a card for challenge 53...

...and my interpretation...PS: I also used Heather's card (from the DT) as a sketch for mine because I like it so much! :)
All the DP is Recollections, some from the Floral Garden stack and some from the Bold Basics stack.
PTI dies used: dress form, heart border, tag sale #5, and double ended banner. :) The stamp is from My Creative Time.
Hope you enjoy it. I would love to hear your thoughts so please leave a comment if you wish. :)
