Ayyyyyyeeeeee Matey

"Avast ye cookie!"-Capt. Hook from Shrek the Third. That is my husbands favorite line from that movie and I couldn't help thinking of it when I was making this card for the Argh Matey Simple Sunday Challenge over on the Getting Cricky blog. :) Here is what I came up with...
The patterned paper is DCWV and the card stock is Recollections.
Here is a side look at the treasure chest. I used Elmer's Craft Medium Pop Up Glue Dots to give the chest some dimension.
I cut the word, treasure chest, and map with my Making Memories Slice using the Under the Sea card. The border punch is Fiskars.
Here is a close up of the treasure chest. I used some DCWV glitter paper for the shadow to look like gold, and I added some Studio G rhinestones in various colors and sizes to look like jewels. I cut the treasure map out with some patterned DCWV paper to give it a little bit of texture. :)

Hope you like it! :) I actually cut out a few different shapes with my Slice before I settled on these two. I got discouraged for a bit and then when I put these two die cuts together I really liked how it looked and now I really like this card. It's different and outside of my comfort zone. Thanks for looking! Hope you have a wonderful Leap Year Day! Feedback is always appreciated! :)

A Little Scrapbooking? Yes Please! :)

Good afternoon! I have a 12x12 Scrapbooking layout to share with you this afternoon. I used an old Sketchy Thursdays Sketch. I am so sad that the are not blogging anymore :( I love their sketches. Just when I discovered them they were posting their last post. I hope they at least keep it up so that I can get all the archived sketches! :)
Any hoo, here is the sketch I used...
And here is my take....
The patterned paper is old DCWV and the card stock is Recollections.
I cut the "all" with my Making Memories Slice and the Wedding card. The "boy" is from some stickers I found at Big Lots. The rhinestones are Studio G from the dollar bin at Michael's.
The circle border was cut with my Cricut Expression using the Elegant Edges cartridge. The jornaling tag was also cut with  my Cricut and the Elegant edges cartridge. I hand wrote the journaling.
Here's a close up of the pictures. This is a layout about my son ALWAYS wanting to be outside. He was playing in the dirt and exploring our front yard. He is definitely ALL BOY. :) If you look closely at the pics you can see his knees are all calloused up and dirty because he was still crawling. I've never seen a kid so stubborn about not wanting to walk! :)

Well thanks for looking and feedback is always appreciated! :)

Last Thank You? :)

Hello all! So I think this is the last Thank You card for my son's birthday presents (maybe LOL!) I based this one on Freshly Made Sketches Sketch #23. Here it is...
Here is my take...
The stamp is the same Wal Mart dollar bin stamp I've been using lately. :) I embossed it in black powder. All the card stock and patterned paper is Recollections.
I used some of my scraps from my Valentine's cards for the bottom squares. :)
Very clean and simple, I stuck with my 3x4 size. :)

This card didn't take very much time at all and I really like how it turned out! :) Thanks for looking and feedback is always appreciated. :)

More Thank Yous... :)

Almost done with the Thank You cards for my sons birthday presents...I based this one on sketch #154 from Card Patterns. Here is the sketch...
And here is my take...
The patterned paper and card stock are Recollections. The ribbon is from my stash. The flower is from the dollar bin at Michael's and I added a brad from my stash to the middle. :)
The border punch is Fiskars Apron Lace. The stamp is a Wal Mart dollar bin find and I embossed it with red powder. The card itself is 3x4, I guess I'm not done with my small card phase. :)

Hope you like it, I had fun creating it! Feedback is always appreciated! :)

Mojo Monday for a Blustery Friday :)

Hello! I actually made this card on Monday, but I'm just now getting around to posting it! :) Lots of stuff to do around the house and errands to run, etc...  :) Here is another Mojo Monday sketch...

I was a little intimidated by this sketch at first because I am terrible at the "quilting" technique. It always turns out funny for me for some reason, but I tried it anyway, and I am pretty happy about how it turned out. Here it is...
All the card stock and patterned paper is Recollections. the ribbon is from my stash. :)
The stamp is from my stash and I embossed it with black powder. I cut the triangle out of the end of the white strip to create a banner. the bling is Studio G. :)
One last look at the other side. :)

I really like how this card turned out, it's pretty cute. :) I think I'm getting better at the quilting thing. ;)
Thanks for looking! Feedback is always appreciated! :)

Sketch Inspiration #308

Sketch Inspiration was the first sketch site that I ever uploaded too. :) I used to try and get my entry in every week, and I actually won once! I got the coolest sketch book from Memory Mania. :) Anyhoo, I haven't had the opportunity to play along in awhile. This week I've been on an energy kick (although I don't know where it's coming from because I haven't gotten much sleep lately...) so I got to try out the sketch this week. Here it is...

 Here is my take...
I actually love that background paper. It's DCWV Playtime stack. All the designs are done on Kraft paper which, if you haven't seen in my cards, is my favorite. :) I was intimidated to use this page at first because I didn't want to hide any of the original design, but with this sketch it was easy to show off my pics and the cute scene in the background, which just so happens to go with my pics. :) Love when that happens! :)
I cut the title out of Recollections card stock using my Making Memories Slice and the Mistletoe card. I love that font. :) The other patterned papers are also Recollections.
I used my own handwriting again for the journaling. It's a little crooked, but it's my own. :)
The border punch is old EK Success. The scallop and circle were cut with my Cricut using the Elegant Edges cartridge. That super cute little lizard was cut using my Slice and the Jungle card.
Here is a close up of that super cute and glittery flamingo who is also wearing sunglasses. :)

This layout is about my son loving to ride around in his wagon. He LOVES to be outside, always has. The only problem is that we live in Texas and besides a super mild winter (it's February for crying out loud and it was 90 degrees yesterday!), we had a horribly hot summer with triple degree heat for 20+ days in a row and an awful drought which we still aren't completely recovered from even though we have had a lot of rain here lately. Normally Zachary hates to wear anything on his head or face, but on this particular day he wanted to wear his Bob Marley sunglasses, so I snapped a few pics. :) He is such a stinker and I love him more than air! :)

Hope you enjoyed the layout, feedback is always appreciated! :)

Christmas? :)

I found this challenge blog, Jingle Belles, a couple of days ago, and I love it! What a great way to keep up with Christmas cards all through out the year! No more rushing at the last minute, and maybe I will actually get to send them this year! :) The latest theme is Buttons (or eyelets, or brads.) I am an eyelet and brad person myself (although I do use buttons occasionally.) I have a million of them and for some reason haven't been using them lately, so I pulled them out and used the Mojo Monday sketch #228 (It was last weeks sketch and I loved it so much I used it again!) Here is my take...
I used eyelets on the background shape and brads for the centers of the snowflakes. :) The patterned paper is DCWV from the Christmas and Winter stack. The zig zag paper and card stock are Recollections.
Here's a close up of the layers. The snowflakes are both Martha Stewart punches, I used the Fiskar's Apron Lace edge punch on the zig zag paper, the ribbon is from my stash, and the stamp is from Studio G.

I like this sketch a lot, and it really helped me to work on my layering technique. Hope you like it, I sure do! :)

Thanks for looking and feedback is always appreciated! :)

Time for Freshly Made! :)

I love Freshly Made Sketches! They have a fabulous design team too. :) Lots of fun inspiration this week! :)
Here is Sketch #22...
And her is my take...
Very clean and simple for my birthday card stash. :) The patterned paper and card stock are all Recollections.
The stamp is a Michael's dollar bin find and I stamped it in red ink and then used some clear embossing powder to give it some shine and texture. You can't see it in the picture that well but the cupcakes have some glitter on them too. :)

I'm thinking of making more of these to add to my birthday stash and I remembered (after I was done of course lol) that I have a new EK Success candle border punch! More of these in the future? I think yes!

Thanks for looking and feedback is always appreciated! :)

"A Stitch in Time"

Cricut Cardz Challenge #102 is "A Stitch in Time." You can use any type of stitching you want, including faux stitching (which is my go to because I'm still intimidated by sewing machines and paper:) I used a 3x3 card base again. :) Here is what I came up with...
I did some "stitching" around my cute little bird with a glitter gel pen. I cut him out with my Cricut Expression using the Create A Critter cartridge. (Love that one!) I also "stitched" around the outside of the card.
I used Elmer's Craft medium pop up glue dots to give the birdie some dimension. All the patterned paper and card stock are Recollections.
The border punch is EK Success scallop with diamonds. The stamp is from my stash and I stamped it on velum and then embossed it in purple.

I just love that little birdie. I think he is adorable. :) I'm pretty pleased with how this card came out. I am challenging my self to use more doodling to add more dimension to my cards. :) Hope you like it, feedback is always appreciated! :)

CPS Challenge

Hello, I have another Thank You card for my sons birthday presents that I finished for a challenge over on the Card Positioning Systems blog. It was a sketch challenge so here is the sketch...

And here is my take...
The patterned paper is DCWV and the card stock is Recollections. The stamp is a .97 cent bin find from Wal Mart and I embossed it with red powder.
The bling is a Michael's dollar bin find. I cut the scalloped circle with my Cricut Expression using the Elegant Edges cartridge and layered it with red.
One last look at the other side. :)

Hope you like it, feedback is always appreciated! ;)

Clean & Simple Challenge FTL #178

Good evening everyone! I've done a few more challenges...so there may be several posts tonight. ;) I am doing the Thank You cards from my sons birthday party. With all of the intricate detail, it's really hard to cut things from the Disney Cars cartridge small enough to fit on a card (and stay with the theme of the party) so I went with the idea to just stay with the color scheme of red black and white. ;)

First up is Clean & Simple FTL #178. I know I've said it before, but this is one of my very favorite sketch sites. ;) Here is the sketch...
And here is my take...I changed it up slightly by taking out the middle panel...
All the card stock and patterned paper are Recollections. The little stars are an old Fiskars punch and I cut the big star using my Making Memories Slice and the Noel card. The circle chain was cut with my Cricut Expression using the Elegant Edges cartridge and the border feature.
The stamp is a 97 cent bin find from Wal Mart. I embossed it with black powder. I used some old gel pens to make the faux stitching around the stars.

Well, thanks for looking, hope you like it. Feedback is always appreciated. :)

Mojo Monday Sketch 228

I found the pics! I could not find them for the life of me! ;) I accidentally put them in the wrong folder on my computer, silly me! :) I love Mojo Mondays sketches, but I hardly ever get my stuff posted in time ;) Here is the sketch...
And here is my take...
The patterned paper and card stock are all Recollections. I cut all the die cuts (except the heart) with my Making Memories Slice. The pink panel was cut using the Remember This card and the scallop and regular circle were cut with the Basics 1 card (it comes with the machine.)
The ribbon is from The Paper Studio (which is Hobby Lobby's brand.) The velum sticker is EK Success.

The heart punch is Martha Stewart. I am normally TERRIBLE at layering, but this sketch really inspired me to try it again and I am really happy with how it came out! I really love this card!

Thanks for looking, hope you have a wonderful day! Feedback is always appreciated! :)

Embossing Challenge

Good afternoon! I have one more challenge to enter today over on The Glamorous Side of Scrapping. It's for their Clean & Simple Sunday Challenge-Embossing. It can be any kind of embossing you want, I chose dry embossing. Here is what I came up with....
I used the small embossing folder that came with my Sizzix Texture Boutique. I embossed a patterned piece of paper (Recollections) and then sanded it so you could see the white core.
I used Elmer's Craft Medium pop up glue dots to give the panel dimension. All the patterned paper and card stock are Recollections. The ribbon is The Paper Studio (Hobby Lobby's brand) and the deep edge punch is Martha Stewart.
Here is a close up of the embossing, the bling is Studio G from Michael's dollar bins. ;)

Thanks for looking hope you have a wonderful day and feedback is always appreciated. ;)

Animal Print Crazy! :)

Hi, there! Hope you are having a wonderful Thursday. I have another card for another challenge to share with you today! I don't know what made me go zebra-print crazy, but it turned out pretty cute anyway. This card is for the sketch challenge over at The Sweet Stop. Here is sketch SSS145...
And here is my Animal crazy take. :)
The patterned paper and card stock are all Recollections. The ribbon is from my stash. :) The border punch is Fiskar's Apron lace.
I cut this cute little Zebra with my Cricut Expression using the Create a Critter cartridge. Isn't she adorable. ;)
I used the same button with the Phrase function to cut the sentiment. Even though this card is a bit heavy with the zebra-print I really like how it turned out! Thanks for looking and feedback is always appreciated! ;)
